BlueStacks App Player displays apps inside a window and emulates Android's touchscreen motions with your mouse. It takes longer than tapping and swiping, but it works better than we expected, especially since it's still a beta release. Pros Apps in Windows: It does give you the ability to run Android apps on your desktop or laptop PC. One for all: Using the same apps for both Android and Windows has potential advantages, including cross-platform familiarity, easy data transfer, and access to thousands of Android games, tools, and apps in Windows. Cons Beta: Like any beta release, BlueStacks has some bugginess.
Disabling its startup and services entries in System Configuration and launching BlueStacks later when needed significantly improved the stability of both BlueStacks and Windows. Subscription: Apps of the day can be downloaded for free, but there's a monthly fee to keep using your own apps on BlueStacks. Lost in translation: Android apps don't look or run quite the same in Windows, and the interface and controls are different. Some apps are disappointing, but others translate well into Windows. It is what I refer to as 'thugware' because it will use force to fight you to decide who runs your computer. It tells your OS to run two services and its exe on start-up. If you direct your PC to disable automatic start-up in favor of manuel start-up in Windows Services and then run the app, it will revert your Services changes. Your only option is then to kill the services when you aren't using them in whatever process monitor you use.
If I have a blue car and you decide you must paint it red when I did not ask for, need or want it to be red, that is vandalism. If you insist on making pointless changes to my OS on my machine that I did not ask for, need or want, it is the same thing. Agreeing to use the software does not permit one to deliberately change my external configurations when those changes are not needed just because you want 24/7 operation on MY computer that is utterly superfluous.
Reply by Fudd1234 on May 27, 2016 1. It will generally use every last bit of CPU you have unless perhaps your PC is rigged for gaming or resolving NASA telemetry. It will generally use every last bit of RAM you have. What Bluestacks calls 'new features' are just ways to shove new ads for crap you will never use in front of you, tying up resources to do it. By forcing you to upgrade to this version, it makes no attempt to save authentication from the last installation, meaning you will have to make all new settings and accounts. On Win7, it turns Google maps into indecipherable if colorful gibberish, such as may be useful in location spoofing.
The rotator simply does not work. The result is a reduced size screen that makes the display ridiculously too small to read. If you try to use the 'rotation/re-size' function, it will crash the app several times before finally- somewhat- working, by at least enlarging the display, sort of. It is what I refer to as 'thugware' because it will use force to fight you.
